As of 4:15pm, the Wachs 80 MPH Challenge is still on. The cortisone shots I received in my left shoulder from the wonderful people at Dr. Steve Lobell's office in Marietta is doing there magic. The fumes from the tiny ether rag I keep with me promises to maintain that vague sense of consciousness I will need to function, yet not feel, as my shoulder tears clean off bone with the final of my 3 allotted pitches. The supportive phone calls this afternoon from the President and David Blaine have me mentally ready.
If you have tickets for tonight, see ya there. My first pitch is due at 6:31pm. I'll be at Grady at 6:45. Video of the day's events will be posted here, and at our sister website, 96Rock.com shortly.
